Workflow Efficiencies

During a three-week summer internship at a large expert network company (name withheld for confidentiality), I identified a number of inefficiencies in analysts’ workflows and developed automations that significantly reduced turnaround time.

The automations were coded in Google Apps Script and used a variety of APIs, including Trello’s REST API, the Gemini API, and the FMP Stock Market API.

One key automation transcribed, checked, formatted, and uploaded expert conversations, allowing analysts to focus on interviewing rather than note-taking. This automation saves analysts hours of post-editing work and increases document accuracy in areas such as niche company names and complex drug names.

Another major automation uses earnings call dates and stock volatility to determine the optimal publication date for an expert interview, then automatically creates a Trello card to notify analysts in advance. This system ensures that coverage is handled appropriately and, in turn, improves the overall quality of the expert network.

These automations have spread across the company and are now used by over 1,000 analysts globally.

The systems are expected to result in a 15–19% reduction in bottom-line costs, translating to 3–5% annual revenue accretion and $3.9–$6.5 million in projected savings.

These automations also acted as a wake-up call, prompting executives to make significant changes to their product and R&D teams.
